This policy explains what information Contracting Bridge collects, how we use it and the choices you have. "We" and "us" mean Contracting Bridge. "You" means anyone who visits contractingbridge.com or uses an account.
What we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, phone number and password (stored as a secure hash by our authentication provider; we never see it).
- Company information: company name, contact details, website, trades, years in business, crew size, description, home ZIP code and travel distance.
- Verification documents: certificates of insurance, licenses, workers' compensation certificates or exemptions, and W-9 forms you choose to upload, plus details like license numbers and expiration dates.
- Marketplace content: projects, files you attach to them, bids, messages, invitations, watch lists and reviews.
- Agreement records: the date you agreed to our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy and which version you agreed to.
- Usage information: which projects your company opens, bids you send, and features you ask about. We use this to run and improve the service and to decide how future plans should work.
- Launch update requests: the name, company, email, phone, ZIP code, travel distance, trades and message you send through the updates form.
- Technical information: like other websites, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser type and the pages you request.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account, and to review and approve companies.
- To run the marketplace: match projects to trades by trade and distance, deliver bids and messages, and show badges and reviews.
- To send account emails like sign-up confirmation and password resets, and service notices like changes to plans or these terms.
- To understand how the service is used and improve it.
- To prevent fraud and abuse and to enforce our Terms of Use.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.
Who can see what
- Company profiles (name, location, trades, years in business, contact details, badges, rating and reviews) are visible to approved companies on Contracting Bridge.
- Projects and their files are visible to approved companies the project is open to: trades nearby for open projects, or only invited companies for invite-only projects. Trades see the town and ZIP code, not the street address.
- Bids are visible to the company that sent them and to the contractor who posted the project (for sealed projects, only after bidding closes). Other bidders never see them.
- Messages are visible only to the two companies in the conversation.
- Verification documents are visible only to your company and our team. Other companies see the badge, not the document.
- Our team can access account information to review companies, provide support and keep the service safe.
Service providers
We use a small number of companies to run Contracting Bridge. They process information on our behalf:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage.
- Cloudflare: website hosting and email routing.
- Resend: sending account emails.
- Google Fonts and Unsplash: fonts and photos on our pages, which your browser loads directly from them.
- Zippopotam.us: turning a ZIP code into a town name when you type one in.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public, or as part of a merger or sale of the business, in which case this policy would continue to apply.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
Keeping it secure
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your information is limited by account permissions enforced in our database, and verification documents are stored in private storage. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
How long we keep it
We keep account and marketplace information while your account is open. If you close your account, we delete or anonymize your information within a reasonable time, except where we need to keep it for legal, tax or safety reasons. Reviews you left for other companies may remain without your name attached.
Your choices
- Update your profile and company details any time from your account.
- Email admin@contractingbridge.com to get a copy of your information, correct it or close your account.
- To stop launch update emails, reply to any of them or email us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws. Contact us and we'll respond within the time those laws require.
Children
Contracting Bridge is for businesses. It isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and let account holders know by email before the change takes effect.
