These terms apply to your use of contractingbridge.com and the Contracting Bridge marketplace (the "service"). You agree to them when you check the box at sign-up (or when you select "I agree" after signing in), on behalf of yourself and the company you represent. We record the date you agreed and which version of these terms you agreed to.
What Contracting Bridge is
Contracting Bridge is a marketplace where general contractors, builders and other companies post projects, and trade contractors find projects and submit bids. We are not a party to any agreement between users. We don't perform construction work, we don't employ the contractors on the service, and we don't handle payment for the work. Each company is responsible for its own contracts, permits, licenses, insurance, taxes, workmanship and payments.
Accounts and approval
- You must be at least 18 and authorized to act for the company you register.
- Keep your sign-in details secure and the information on your account accurate.
- We review new companies and may approve, decline, suspend or close an account at our discretion, including for inaccurate information or breaking these terms.
Verification and badges
Badges such as Insured and Licensed mean we reviewed a document a company submitted, at the time it was submitted. Badges are not a guarantee of a company's coverage, license status, qualifications or work. Before hiring, you're responsible for confirming insurance, licensing and anything else that matters to you.
Projects, bids and messages
- Post only real projects you have the right to bid out, and describe them accurately.
- Bids should be genuine offers based on the posted scope. Whether a bid becomes a binding contract is up to the two companies.
- Don't post a project's street address or a homeowner's personal information where other companies can see it.
- Use messages for business about projects. No spam, harassment or solicitation unrelated to the project.
Confidential project information
Projects on Contracting Bridge often include plans, specifications, budgets, measurements, photos and details about a client's property. Other companies' bids, messages and contact details are also shared with you so you can do business on the service. All of this is "confidential information." When you receive confidential information through the service, you agree to:
- Use it only for the project it was shared for, to evaluate, price, bid on and, if awarded, perform that work.
- Share it only with people who need it for that purpose: your employees and the suppliers, manufacturers or lower-tier subcontractors you're pricing the work with, and only if they keep it confidential too.
- Not publish, sell or reuse it. No reposting plans or photos, no copying another company's scope or pricing for other work, and no adding contacts to marketing lists.
- Protect it with reasonable care, and delete or return downloaded files if the company that shared them asks, unless you need to keep them for a contract you were awarded or by law.
This doesn't cover information that's already public, that you already had, or that you're required by law to disclose. A company posting a project can also require its own non-disclosure agreement before sharing more detail, and that agreement applies alongside these terms.
Reviews
Reviews must be honest, based on your own experience on the awarded job, and free of threats, hate speech or private information. We may remove reviews that break these rules. We don't edit reviews or change ratings.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you upload: project details, files, bids, messages, reviews and documents. You give us permission to store, display and share that content as needed to run the service (for example, showing your project files to the companies who can see the project). You're responsible for having the right to upload it.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service: no fake accounts or reviews, no scraping or copying other users' information, no attempts to access accounts or data you're not allowed to see, no malware, and nothing illegal.
Fees
The service is free while we launch. If we introduce paid plans, we'll publish the prices and email account holders at least 30 days before any charge applies. Nothing will be charged to an account unless it chooses a paid plan.
Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We don't guarantee that any project will receive bids, that any bid will be accepted, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Contracting Bridge is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, lost profits, or any damages arising from work performed, payments, or disputes between users. Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100 if you haven't paid us anything.
Disputes between users
Disputes about projects, bids, work or payment are between the companies involved. We may help by sharing information from the service where appropriate, but we have no obligation to resolve them.
Closing your account
You can close your account at any time by emailing us. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (like content permissions, disclaimers and limits of liability) continue after an account closes.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll update the date above and email account holders before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
