Subcontractor jobs

Flooring subcontractor jobs near you

Flooring packages come from builders at the end of a build and from remodelers on kitchens, basements and whole-house jobs. Listings show square footage and product so you can price the install.

The flooring work contractors post

  • LVP and laminate in new homes
  • Hardwood installs and refinishing
  • Carpet in bedrooms and basements
  • Stairs and transitions
  • Commercial resilient flooring

Every project is posted by a builder or general contractor we've reviewed, with the town and ZIP code, bid due date and files. You see how far each job is from your shop.

How it works

  1. Set up your profile. Pick flooring and any other trades you do, your home ZIP code and how far you'll travel.
  2. Find and watch projects. Open the plans and photos, ask the contractor questions, and watch the ones you're pricing.
  3. Send your bid. Your price, earliest start date and notes, from your phone or computer. Only that contractor sees it.

No lead fees and no cut of the job. You agree on the contract and payment directly with the contractor.

Pricing flooring work from a listing

What contractors compare, and where flooring bids usually differ.

Check the listing for

  • Square footage by room, and stairs
  • Product and who supplies it
  • Subfloor condition and leveling
  • Removal of the old floor
  • Furniture and appliance moving

How it's usually priced

Usually per square foot installed, with stairs, transitions, removal and floor leveling priced separately.

Contractors compare bids side by side, so naming your units and what's included makes yours easy to pick.

Say what's in or out

  • Floor leveling and subfloor repair
  • Removing and hauling the old floor
  • Baseboard and shoe moulding
  • Moving appliances and furniture

Licenses and insurance for flooring subcontractors

Flooring usually falls under a home improvement or contractor registration where one is required. Contractors usually ask for liability insurance.

On Contracting Bridge you can add your certificate of insurance and license to earn the Insured and Licensed badges, which show on every bid. Some projects require them. You can still see those projects and get your badges in place before you bid.

This is general information, not legal advice. Requirements change by state and city, so check with your state's licensing board and your insurance agent. What insurance subcontractors need

Questions from flooring subcontractors

Do builders supply the flooring?

Often, especially on new construction. Every bid says whether it's labor only or labor and materials, and the listing usually says who supplies the product.

How do I price stairs?

Per step, as its own line. Contractors expect it and it keeps your square-foot price comparable.

Is it really free?

Yes. Posting, bidding, messaging and reviews are free while we launch, with no limits. General contractors will stay free. When a Pro plan for trades arrives, Founding Members get a lower price, and the free plan stays.

Where does Contracting Bridge work?

Anywhere in the United States. Projects are matched by distance from each trade's home ZIP code, so you'll see more activity as more companies join near you.

Do I pay to bid on an invitation?

No, and you never will. When a contractor invites you to bid, seeing the project and bidding on it is free on every plan.
