Subcontractor jobs

Plumbing subcontractor jobs near you

Plumbing packages come from builders for new homes and from remodelers for kitchens, baths and basements. Listings include fixture counts and plans so you can price rough-in and trim.

A plumber working in a bathroom

The plumbing work contractors post

  • New home rough-in and finish
  • Bathroom and kitchen remodels
  • Basement bathrooms with ejector pits
  • Water heater and fixture replacements
  • Light commercial restrooms

Every project is posted by a builder or general contractor we've reviewed, with the town and ZIP code, bid due date and files. You see how far each job is from your shop.

How it works

  1. Set up your profile. Pick plumbing and any other trades you do, your home ZIP code and how far you'll travel.
  2. Find and watch projects. Open the plans and photos, ask the contractor questions, and watch the ones you're pricing.
  3. Send your bid. Your price, earliest start date and notes, from your phone or computer. Only that contractor sees it.

No lead fees and no cut of the job. You agree on the contract and payment directly with the contractor.

Pricing plumbing work from a listing

What contractors compare, and where plumbing bids usually differ.

Check the listing for

  • Fixture count and locations, or plans
  • Who supplies fixtures and trim
  • Water heater type and location
  • Gas lines: in or out of your scope
  • Concrete cutting or excavation needs

How it's usually priced

Often per fixture for rough-in and trim on new homes, or a lump sum for remodels, with fixtures, gas lines and concrete work priced separately.

Contractors compare bids side by side, so naming your units and what's included makes yours easy to pick.

Say what's in or out

  • Fixtures and who supplies them
  • Concrete cutting and patching for under-slab work
  • Gas piping and connections
  • Permit and inspection fees

Licenses and insurance for plumbing subcontractors

Plumbing is licensed in most states, usually at the state level, and most work needs a permit and inspection. Contractors will usually ask for your license along with liability insurance and workers' comp.

On Contracting Bridge you can add your certificate of insurance and license to earn the Insured and Licensed badges, which show on every bid. Some projects require them. You can still see those projects and get your badges in place before you bid.

This is general information, not legal advice. Requirements change by state and city, so check with your state's licensing board and your insurance agent. What insurance subcontractors need

Questions from plumbing subcontractors

Do remodelers post small plumbing jobs?

Yes. A single bathroom or a kitchen sink move is a typical remodel package. They're quick to price, and remodelers who find a good plumber tend to keep using them.

How do I show my price includes rough-in and trim?

List them as separate lines in your notes, with fixtures excluded or included. Contractors compare plumbing bids line by line.

Is it really free?

Yes. Posting, bidding, messaging and reviews are free while we launch, with no limits. General contractors will stay free. When a Pro plan for trades arrives, Founding Members get a lower price, and the free plan stays.

Where does Contracting Bridge work?

Anywhere in the United States. Projects are matched by distance from each trade's home ZIP code, so you'll see more activity as more companies join near you.

Do I pay to bid on an invitation?

No, and you never will. When a contractor invites you to bid, seeing the project and bidding on it is free on every plan.
